1. Overview
We respect your privacy. Our apps let you browse, download and — in some apps — create community-made Minecraft content (mods, add-ons, maps, textures, skins and similar). We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, phone number or precise location. This policy explains what limited data is processed when you use the app and which third-party services are involved. Features differ between apps, so not every item below applies to every app. The one place where an app may ask for an email address is the optional contact field of the feedback form described under "Ideas and feedback" in Section 2 (and the creator-submission form); filling it in is always your choice.
2. Information We Process
Data stored only on your device
- Your favorites, download history and recently downloaded files.
- Any skins or drafts you create or edit (until you export or delete them).
- Your in-app preferences (filters, selected language, consent choices).
- Whether you purchased the ad-free option.
This information stays on your device (and in your Google account backup, if you have Android Auto Backup enabled).
Data processed by our backend (api.mcmodshub.com)
Our apps load the content catalog from our own backend, which processes your IP address to deliver the response. We additionally process the following only when you choose to use that feature:
- Comments. If you post a comment, the nickname you choose, your comment text and basic device context (device model, app version) are sent to our backend, automatically moderated, and shown publicly next to the item. If notifications are enabled, a notification token is stored so we can tell you when you receive a reply.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging token plus coarse signals (language, timezone offset, chosen content interests) to send relevant "new content" and reply notifications. You can turn this off anytime in your device settings.
- Reports & feedback. If you report content or send feedback, we store your message (and an email address only if you choose to provide one) so we can respond and improve the app.
- Translation. If you tap "Translate", the text being translated — a mod description, or a comment someone posted publicly — is sent to a machine-translation provider (see Section 3) and the translation is cached on our backend so the same text is translated once for everyone. We store only the text and its translation: no nickname, no device or user identifier, and nothing that says who asked for it. Private messages are never translated, and comments that are hidden or awaiting moderation are never sent.
- Creator submissions. If you apply to feature your YouTube video, we store the channel and video links, your email and your message, so we can review the video and reply to you. Your email is used only for that correspondence and is never shown publicly or shared. The channel name and video are already public on YouTube; we show them next to the relevant mod. Ask us anytime to remove your submission.
- The app also generates a random identifier on first launch; it is used for analytics (for example, retention cohorts) and is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data. When it is stored with a comment, a like or a poll vote in our Discussions section, we remove it from that entry after 120 days.
Ideas and feedback
This applies to the feedback form in MC Mod Maker (Profile → Suggest an idea) and to the identical "Suggest an improvement" form in MC Bedrock Mods and our other apps that have it. When you send a message through it, we receive:
- the text you write — the idea or feedback itself;
- your email address — only if you choose to enter it; the field is optional;
- the app version and interface language, sent automatically with the message;
- the IP address of the connection, which our server records with the message to limit abuse.
We read the messages to improve the app, and we use an email address only to reply to you about your message. We do not use any of this for advertising. We do not share it with third parties. The message is stored on our own backend and is read by us and by people we give administrator access to. Please do not put passwords, real names or phone numbers into the text. We keep ideas and feedback until you ask us to delete them; to have yours deleted, email support@mcmodshub.com.
Creation tools (skin-editor app)
If you use an app that lets you create skins:
- AI generation. When you generate a skin from a text prompt, the prompt text you type is sent to Hugging Face to produce the image. Please do not include personal information in prompts.
- Import by username. When you import a player's skin, the Minecraft username you enter is sent to Mojang and Minotar to fetch that player's public skin.
Data processed by third-party SDKs
- Advertising identifiers, device/usage signals and your IP address (which also gives an approximate, city-level location), collected by our advertising and analytics providers (see Section 3) to show ads, measure app performance and prevent fraud. The ads SDK may share your full IP address with the advertising partners listed in Section 3 so they can bid on ad space; in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland this is limited by your consent choice (Section 4). Our apps do not ask for the device location permission.
- Approximate, coarse signals such as country/region, device model, OS version, app version and crash diagnostics.
- Install attribution (e.g. the campaign that led you to install) via the Google Play Install Referrer.
3. Third-Party Services
Our apps use the following services, each governed by its own privacy policy. Which ones apply depends on the app and the features you use:
- Google AdMob — displays ads; may use your advertising ID, IP address and device data for ad delivery, fraud prevention and (with consent) personalization. Google Privacy Policy.
- Ad networks used through AdMob mediation — they receive ad requests (advertising ID, IP address, device data) and may show the ad: Unity Ads, PubMatic, Equativ and Mobfox, plus BIGO Ads and Meta Audience Network described below. The set of networks can change; the current list is in our app-ads.txt.
- BIGO Ads — additional ad network used through AdMob mediation (operated by Empathy Technology Pte. Ltd.); may process your advertising ID, IP address and device/usage signals to deliver and measure ads. BIGO Ads Privacy Policy.
- Meta Audience Network — additional ad network used through AdMob mediation in MC Java Mods; may process your advertising ID and device/usage signals to deliver and measure ads. Meta Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage statistics.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and stability diagnostics.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications when you enable them.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring — app start and network timing metrics, in MC Java Mods and MC Mod Maker.
- Hugging Face — generates a skin image from your text prompt, in apps that offer AI generation. Hugging Face Privacy Policy.
- Mojang & Minotar — fetch a player's public Minecraft skin by username, in apps that offer skin import. Minecraft (Mojang) Privacy Policy.
- Machine translation — translates a mod description or a public comment when you ask for it. Today the app calls MyMemory directly; we are moving this to our own backend, which will use Google Gemini (paid tier, where the content is not used to train Google's models) with Anthropic Claude as a fallback. Only the text itself is sent. MyMemory · Google · Anthropic.
- Google Play Services & Google Play Billing — core platform services and the processing of in-app purchases (see Section 5).
4. Ads & Your Consent
Our apps are free and supported by ads. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we show a Google-certified consent screen (Google User Messaging Platform) on first launch where you can accept or decline personalized ads. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized. You can also remove ads entirely via an optional in-app purchase. Outside those regions, ad requests include your IP address so that advertising partners can determine your approximate location and bid on the ad; you can limit ad personalization in your device's Google settings ("Delete advertising ID" / "Opt out of Ads Personalization").
5. In-App Purchases
Some apps offer optional purchases (for example, "Remove Ads", a temporary ad-free boost, or voluntary "tip" donations). All payments are processed by Google Play. We never receive or store your card number or payment details — Google handles the transaction and only tells our app whether a purchase succeeded so we can unlock the corresponding feature.
6. Downloaded Content
Mods and other content are hosted by third parties (such as CurseForge and Modrinth). When you download an item, your device connects directly to those services, which may process your IP address as part of delivering the file. We do not control those services' data practices.
7. Children
Our apps are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it.
8. Data Retention & Your Choices
- Ideas and feedback you send (the text, an email address if you gave one, the app version and language, and the connection IP address) are kept until you ask us to delete them. To have them deleted, email support@mcmodshub.com; there is no automatic expiry.
- On-device data is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
- You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in your device settings.
- Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR / CCPA), you may have rights to access or delete data held by the third-party providers listed above; please use their respective tools and policies, or contact us for help.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
10. Our Website (mcmodshub.com)
Our website is a browsable catalog of Minecraft content. It has no accounts and no login — you can browse without giving us personal information. It uses a few third-party services that set cookies:
- Google Analytics 4 — helps us understand how the site is used (pages viewed, device/browser type, truncated IP, approximate location). We don't use it to identify you or sell data. Opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Google AdSense — displays ads; Google and its vendors may set cookies to serve and measure them. Where personalization isn't consented to, ads are non-personalized. Control this at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
- Functional storage — your theme (light/dark) preference is kept in your browser and shared with no one.
If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we ask consent before setting non-essential (analytics/advertising) cookies and you can change it any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer. Full details are in our Cookie Policy. As mods and files are hosted by or linked to third parties, see our Copyright & Takedown Policy for removal requests.
